SENIOR INTERNATIONAL SUPPLY CHAIN DIRECTOR FOR BEST BUY.

Senior International supply chain Dierctor for best

What I Do

I manage international supply chain operations and oversee new market entries to help my company grow and sustain market share. I oversee the interview and hiring process, secure third-party providers for merchandise delivery, and implement supply chain processes for new stores. I also visit exsisting stores to assess warehouse practices and ensure supply chain procedures are optimal.

What I Like Most About My Job

Every day is different because I get to travel and meet fascinating people from different cultures all over the world. Most recently, I have helped establish supply chain processes in Mexico, Turkey, and London.

Kaplan University Course I Rely On Every Day

Behavioral Management showed me that everyone has different needs and readiness levels. You can’t manage a new hire and a 10-year veteran the same way. Your approach must be different to get the best performance from each one.

Best Advice For Individuals Considering My Field

So many things in logistics are out of your hands–a tornado hits a manufacturing facility or your freight gets delayed in traffic. You can’t let yourself get caught up in the things you can’t control; you just need to focus on what you can and come up with the best solution for the challenge that day. Also, speaking another language—I speak Spanish—opens doors.

What Is On My To Do List

  • Figure out how to package flat screen TVs for shipping to China
  • Perform warehouse assessments on stores that opened last quarter
  • Evaluate third-party provider’s transportation and warehouse capabilities and determine if they can meet company’s needs for new store opening in London
